Versailles, Paris
Versailles is a city situated in the vicinity of Paris, and it’s also part of its metropolis. What makes Versailles such a known place is the fact that it’s where you can find the large royal palace, built by King Louis XIV. As far as Paris neighborhoods are concerned, Versailles is one of the wealthiest ones.
The total population of Versailles is 86,400, with the total area of the city being 26.18 km2. The city is situated 10.6 miles ( 17.1 km) from the centre of Paris.
There is a lot of history in the Versailles Palace. For example, in 1919, here is where World War I ended, with the signing of the Peace Treaty, between the allies and Germany. Besides the Palace, which is the main attraction of the city, you can also visit a number of other historic buildings: Hotel de Ville, Eglise Notre-Dame, Saint-Louis Cathedral, the municipal Library and Hotel de la Prefecture.
If you want a great nightlife, Versailles isn’t the best place to find it. However, if you want to mingle with the locals, there are plenty of places where you can eat or have a drink.
